Lyndy McGaw is a Professor in the Department of Paraclinical Sciences, University of Pretoria, and leads the Phytomedicine Programme based at the Faculty of Veterinary Science. The Phytomedicine Programme is a multidisciplinary and collaborative research group investigating biological activity and toxicity of plant-derived extracts and compounds. The group targets the development of effective and safe antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anthelmintic remedies for promotion of animal and human health, as well as alternatives to antimicrobial feed additives. Together with members of her research group and collaborators, Lyndy has published over 250 scientific articles, several book chapters and edited a book. She has presented research results at numerous national and international conferences. She has supervised or co-supervised more than 50 MSc and PhD students to completion of their degrees.
