Professor Stephen Amoo is a Principal Researcher at the Agricultural Research Council – Vegetables, Industrial and Medicinal Plants in South Africa, and an Extraordinary Professor in the Unit for Environmental Sciences and Management, North-West University. He has been leading the Medicinal Plant Research, Innovation and Development at the Agricultural Research Council in South Africa since 2014, focusing on medicinal plant value chain development. His research team has received research funding totalling more than R100 million in the past few years from national and international funding bodies. As an indication of his scientific productivity, he has authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles in addition to several presentations at both national and international conferences. He has also mentored/supervised several postdoctoral fellows, PhD and MSc students to completion. In addition to serving as an Associate Editor for the South African Journal of Botany, he serves on the editorial boards of several other international journals and regularly conducts peer-review for several journals.
