Nokukhanya Thembane is a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Pathology Scientist at Mangosuthu University of Technology and a doctoral candidate in medical biochemistry through a joint program between the University of KwaZulu-Natal and University College London. Her research harnesses the power of traditional African medicinal plants, using advanced cell biology, molecular biology, and computational chemistry to develop new drugs. Driven by a vision to bridge Indigenous knowledge with modern science, Nokukhanya is committed to transforming Africa’s healthcare landscape by developing culturally grounded, contextually relevant, and effective natural therapies that address pressing health challenges related to both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
